Common questions
How does PrivateMovers work?
Customers post a move once. Movers whose service area covers the pickup address send quotes. You compare them, chat, negotiate and accept the one you want. You only pay the mover you choose.
Is it free for customers?
Yes. Posting a move, getting quotes and messaging movers is free.
How do I find movers near me?
Open Find movers and allow location access. We show movers whose service area includes where you are. You can also type a city instead.
How do I accept a quote?
Open the move under My moving requests, choose the mover, then press Accept. Both of you get an email with the agreed price, date and addresses.
Can I cancel a booking?
Open requests can be cancelled at any time from the move page. For a confirmed booking, press “Need to cancel this booking?”: the mover is told straight away and can agree, reply in the messages, or ask our team to decide. The booking and messages always stay visible. Emergencies can be cancelled immediately.
Who can see my address?
Movers who serve your area can see your pickup and destination addresses so they can quote. Other customers never see them.
How do messages with other customers work?
Turn on your community profile in Profile & settings to be listed. You can block or report anyone, and you can switch messages off at any time.
How do I report a problem?
Use Help & support to send us a message, or the Report button on a profile or conversation.
What if no mover is available on my date?
Post your move anyway. It waits in the queue and we tell you as soon as a suitable mover becomes free or proposes another date. You can also make your date flexible, or move it to a date the recommendations show as free.
What is the difference between a recommendation, an offer and a booking?
A recommendation is a suggestion from our matching — the mover has not agreed to anything yet. An offer is a mover’s proposed price and date — still not booked. A booking is confirmed only when you accept an offer; the mover’s day is then reserved.
What does “Sponsored” or “Promoted” mean?
These movers pay for extra visibility. They are always labelled and shown apart from the recommendations, which are ranked only by how well a mover fits your move.
How do cancellations work?
Either side can ask to cancel a confirmed booking with a reason. The other side is told and can agree, reply, or open a dispute for our team. If nobody answers within the response time, the person who asked can confirm it. Late cancellations may carry a fee set out in the cancellation policy.
